Helene Hutchings - CEO/Founder

The CEO and Founder of Hair Donation Ottawa, Helene is formerly from the UK and lives in Ottawa with her partner Iain and three daughters.  Helene joined Coldwell Banker First Ottawa Realty in 2002 and has been helping clients with their Real Estate needs ever since.

Diagnosed and successfully treated for Cancer in 2010, Helene began Hair Donation Ottawa as a way of thanking the Ottawa Hospital and the medical profession that saved her life.  In March, 2016, Helene was awarded the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award.

Lorri Huppert - COO / Event Manager

Lorri Huppert is the Chief Operating Officer of Hair Donation Ottawa (HDO) and has been an office administrator for the Ottawa Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) for 14 years. Dedicated to the growth of Hair Donation Ottawa, Lori applies her passion and dynamic personality to run successful events to raise the profile of the organization and the organizations it benefits.

Lorri has worked closely with Helene Hutchings, the Founder of Hair Donation Ottawa (HDO) since 2012. She is the mother of two daughters and an avid motorcyclist. She is passionate about Hair Donation Ottawa and looks forward to making each year more successful than the last.


Cansu Koç - CFO / Director

A Cost Analyst in the federal government, Cansu holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Development and Globalization from the University of Ottawa.She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management.

An active volleyball player and reader, Cansu enjoys hunting for Ottawa’s ‘best cup of coffee’ in her spare time.She now joins Hair Donation Ottawa’s executive team as the Chief Financial Officer.

Dr. Judith Bray - Scientific Advisor / Director

Dr. Judith Bray completed her post secondary education in England, obtaining a B.Sc. in Biology from London University, a M.Sc. in Immunology from the University of Birmingham, and a PhD in Cancer Immunology from the Cancer Research Campaign Laboratory, Nottingham. Following a two-year postdoctoral position, Judith moved to Canada to accept a position at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, Alberta. After a successful career as an independent investigator in cancer research for over six years, she took a leave from the workforce to raise her three sons.

Judith then changed direction, joining the Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa (CSTM) as an education officer, creating and delivering educational school science programs for CSTM as well as the Canadian Museum of Nature and the Department of National Defense. In November 2000, Judy moved to the newly created Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR) to manage the launch of three Institutes: the Institutes of Genetics, Cancer Research, and Infection and Immunity. Judith remained the Assistant Director of the Institute of Infection and Immunity and the Institute of Cancer Research for 14 years working extensively on partnership development with organizations from both the public and private sector.

In February, 2014, Judith left CIHR, to become an independent consultant. Since 2014, Judy has worked for a large variety of clients in the health sector, preparing business cases, research frameworks, strategic plans, meeting reports and asset maps and organizing and facilitating workshops.


Christopher Lord - Stylist / French Language Contact

My name is Christopher Lord and I am a Barber at House Of Barons.

I really believe in giving back to the community and I feel that my involvement with Hair Donation Ottawa has given me the perfect platform to do so. We've all been affected by cancer in one way or another...and by combining our efforts, we can achieve great things!

Let's do our best to beat cancer, and change lives, one haircut at a time!

Helen Richardson - Webmaster

Helen Richardson is a social media, marketing and documentation professional and equestrian coach at Oakhurst Farm, west of Ottawa. Helen is a Customer Success Manager with UpchainXLM - a Product Innovation Platform software (SAAS) company. With a long history of work in high tech with companies like JetForm and Taske Technology and social media projects including maintaining several websites for various equestrian and not-for-profit organizations, Helen is excited to be helping in the fight against cancer.


Cancer has touched the lives of several family members and Helen is happy to be a part of the Hair Donation Ottawa team and help share their work and vision on the Internet.

CHEO Foundation: CHEO Research Institute
The CHEO Foundation is the fundraising arm of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. The CHEO Foundation supports the work being done by the doctors, nurses and staff at CHEO by funding new medical equipment, pediatric programs and life-saving research. Donor dollars are also used to continually improve the family-friendly environment that CHEO families have come to count on.

The CHEO Research Institute is the research arm of CHEO that works to create new knowledge and evidence to help provide the world-class care that CHEO is known for.
